Ride Rules

Big Creek Trail Ride is your ultimate destination for horseback riding, camping, and nature exploration. Nestled in the heart of breathtaking landscapes, our facilities offer an unparalleled experience for outdoor enthusiasts. We kindly request that all guests adhere to the following guidelines and policies to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.

Your Safety, Our Priority

  • The welfare of our guests and animals is paramount. However, please be aware that all participants engage in activities at their own risk.
  • All horses brought onto the premises must possess a current negative Coggins test.
  • For the safety of our younger riders, helmets are mandatory for children under 14 years old. Riding double is not permitted.
  • To maintain a harmonious environment, horses displaying aggressive behavior must wear red tail ribbons.
  • Engaging in rough riding or racing is strictly prohibited.
  • Alcoholic beverages are restricted to campsite areas only and are not allowed in communal facilities such as the dining hall and shower houses.
  • The use of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited on the property. A $200 cleaning fee will be added for smoking, vaping, or use of marijuana in rooms/cabins or shower houses.
  • Motorcycles and ATVs are not permitted on the premises without special permission.
  • PETS are allowed only in campers, outside pens, or on leashes. This will be enforced. NO PETS will be allowed in rooms/cabins or in the dining hall. You are responsible for your animals. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 p.m. to ensure a peaceful environment for all campers.
  • Stallions are allowed only with special approval.
  • Feed storage in stalls is prohibited to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • All guests, including visitors, must be registered and checked in at the office upon arrival.
  • Swimming or bathing horses in creeks or rivers is not allowed.
  • Any damage to trees caused by horses will incur a replacement fee.
  • A pre-ride meeting is conducted to familiarize riders with these rules and additional policies.

We are not responsible for injuries or death to animals or humans. Participate at your own risk. All horses must have current negative Coggins test papers to enter.

Liabilities

All individuals attending this trail ride do so at their own risk. Participants are advised of Missouri Senate Bill 457. Under Missouri law, equine sponsors, equine professionals, livestock activity sponsors, livestock owners, livestock facilities, livestock auction markets, or any employee are not liable for injuries or death resulting from the inherent risks of equine or livestock activities, according to the Revised Statutes of Missouri.

Cancellations

You may cancel your reservations by phone or letter. Do not cancel by email! A full deposit refund is possible if cancellation occurs 30 days before the scheduled ride, provided you have contacted the office. Deposits can also be transferred to the next year or a different ride within the same year if the office is notified within 30 days. Deposits can be transferred only once; failure to attend the shared ride results in forfeiture of the deposit.
